Try Something New!

Great way to experience a new sport and meet like-minded people in a fun, safe environment!

No experience required: Our coaches will teach you everything you need to know about boat handling, rowing commands, basic rowing technique and boat safety!

We will teach you in stable beginner style boat with the opportunity to explore rowing in a crew boat. Athletes will have the opportunity to try a vast array of shell types. It's a perfect introduction to the sport. 

Cost per person: $230+Tax (includes the $52.25 Rowing Canada membership fee)

What to Expect

Weekday LTR

4 x 2hr sessions

Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday 10 AM - 12PM

Session 1: We will teach you indoor rowing technique, go over boat handling, the parts of the boat and take a boat down to the water and practice our balance and newfound rowing skills on the in our tubbie singles.

Session 2: We will revisit the boat skills and continue developing on-water rowing skills.

Session 3: We will practice our rowing skills on the water.

Session 4: We will practice our rowing skills on the water.

Weekend LTR

2 x 3hr sessions
Saturday & Sunday 1:00 PM -4:00 PM

Session 1 Part 1: We will teach you indoor rowing technique, go over boat handling, the parts of the boat and take a boat down to the water and practice our balance and newfound rowing skills on the in our tubbie singles.

Session 1 Part 2: We will take you back in the tank to revise the safety commands and will then go over boat handling, the parts of the boat and take a boat down to the water and practice our balance and newfound rowing skills on the water

Session 2 Part 1: We will practice our rowing skills on the water.

Session 2 Part 2: We will practice our rowing skills on the water.


What to bring/wear:

  • running shoes
  • tight fitting exercise clothing
  • lots of layers and weather appropriate clothing
  • a full change of clothing in case you get wet
  • a reusable water bottle
  • snacks 
  • lunch (for Weekend LTR participants)


Please be advised that our sport is weather dependent and we may have to cancel a session due to high winds or poor weather. Your safety is our priority and we will work with you to ensure that you have a great Learn To Row experience.

REFUND POLICY:

If a registrant withdraws from a program more than 10 days before the start date, they may receive a refund less a $45 processing fee or full credit for another program in the same year. If we have to cancel the LTR due to weather concerns will we work to reschedule or provide a refund. 

CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY:
Safety is paramount. In the event of inclement weather instructors will provide a land-based alternative session. There will be a single date devoted to make-up classes due to inclement weather. This date will be the next date in the current lessons cycle. I.e. if the lesson pattern is Tuesdays and Thursdays, the makeup class will be the next Tuesday or Thursday following the course completion.
